The Hellenic Minister of Labor and Social Security Hon. Niki Kerameus has contacted me and HBA USA President Dr. Alexandra Touroutoglou in reference to Greek doctors in the U.S. willing to practice in their specialty in Greece without Greek recertification and with 50% tax reduction for seven years.
The Hellenic Ministry of Labor and Social Security is hosting a REBRAIN GREECE meeting for Greek doctors practicing in the United States and wishing to work in Greece with leading representatives of Greek private hospitals at the Marriott Marquis Hotel (Times Square) on Sunday, December 7, 2025.

- ReBrain Greece is an initiative of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Greece aiming to connect leading companies operating in Greece, seeking collaboration with highly skilled professionals of the Greek diaspora.
- This initiative is part of a broader national outreach strategy aiming to mitigate and reverse the effects of brain drain.
- Building on the success of past events in Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, London, and Stuttgart, which attracted more than 5,000 participants and 120 delegations from major Greek enterprises and industry leaders, the Ministry is now extending its outreach to the United States. A ReBrain Greece event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 7, 2025, in New York City, with the goal of connecting highly skilled Greek professionals in the United States and Canada with companies in Greece.
- The event will be hosted at the Marriott Hotel New York (Times Square).
- More than thirty of Greece’s largest companies have already confirmed their participation:

- According to EUROSTAT data, during the period 2010 – 2023, 659.547 citizens left Greece while 422.688 have already returned, hence we have a 64% “brain gain” result.
Incentives for Repatriation:
- 50% reduction in income tax for individuals who have been tax residents abroad for at least five years, applicable for seven years following their return to Greece.
- Other targeted incentives, e.g. for doctors working in the US automatic recognition of their specialty upon their return to Greece.
- More incentives to come in different fields.
