Dr. Spyros G.E. Mezitis, MD, Ph.D. was re-elected President of the Federation of Hellenic Medical Societies of North America by the Board of Directors during the general assembly teleconference in 2020.
He was President of the Hellenic Medical Society of New York in 2000-2004 and is currently Chairman of its International Committee.
Dr. S. Mezitis trained at the University of Pennsylvania for his PhD in Neuropathology, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia for his MD and residency in Internal Medicine, and at New York Hospital/Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center/Hospital of Special Surgery for his fellowship in Endocrinology.
Currently, Dr. Spyros Mezitis is Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University and is affiliated with New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Lenox Hill Hospital/Northwell Health. He is involved in clinical research.in diabetes pharmacotherapy and thyroid cancer. As Hellenic Medical Federation President he envisions all Hellenic Medical Societies working together to further physician networking, medical education, and patient care.
She became board certified in lifestyle medicine in 2019 and has incorporated this unique practice of care with her patients. lifestyle medicine focuses on primary prevention of disease through stress reduction, meaningful relationshps quitting smoking/drinking, increasing exercise, time in nature, proper sleep, and whole food plant based focused nutrition.
Her other interests include serving on lifestyle medicine interest groups as a committee member, writing for msucom’s wellness newsletter, spending time with her family, singing and playing the piano, teaching Greek dance, and traveling abroad. Christina is also the founder and CEO of Hellenic Healthcare Professionals of Michigan – a 501.c3 nonprofit organization developed to establish a platform uniting Hellenic Healthcare Professionals to empower, unite, and serve their communities.
She is passionate about public speaking and educating her community about how osteopathy and lifestyle medicine integrate wellness into general daily medical care.
Elias attended medical school at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick. After completing his Internship and Residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Elias completed his Cardiology Fellowship at Rush Presbyterian St Luke's Medical Center in Chicago and advanced training in Interventional Cardiology at the University of Michigan Medical Centers. Dr. Iliadis is currently Director of Peripheral Vascular interventions, Medical Director of Non-invasive Vascular laboratories, and Associate Director, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories at Cooper University Hospital, Camden NJ. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and currently an Advisory College Director. He completed 2 terms as a board member of the PAD task force and is currently Chairman of the Pulmonary Embolism Response team as well as Medical Director of the Mechanical Support program and ECMO. In 2019, He was selected to the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Intervention Vascular Disease National Council for a three-year term.
Elias is a brother of the AHEPA Camden 69 Chapter and was 2020 District 5 AHEPAN of the year for his work during the COVID pandemic. Elias's community involvement includes Chairman of the Education Committee, Secretary for 4 terms, Treasurer for 2 terms, and current Vice president of Stewardship of the Parish Council, St Thomas Greek Orthodox Church, Cherry Hill New Jersey. In 2015, he served the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America as camp physician at Ionian Village, Glyfa Greece. He is a founding Board Member and past President of the Hellenic Medical Society of Philadelphia. He serves as a current board member and prior treasurer of the World Hellenic Biomedical Association. Elias completed two terms as a Board member of the Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia. Elias is currently President of the Hellenic Federation of New Jersey and was commissioned as New Jersey Hellenic Heritage commissioner by Governor Phil Murphy in 2109. He was selected as a board member of the Robert Wood Johnson Alumni Association and currently serves as Secretary.
Elias is married to Katherine Dedes Iliadis, RPH, they have 3 children: Sophia 25, Nicholas 22, and Elena 20. The family resides in Moorestown, New Jersey.

Denis Hadjiliadis, MD, did his undergraduate studies at McGill University and completed his medical degree at the University of Toronto in 1995. He subsequently pursued training in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic and Pulmonary and Critical Care at Duke University, where he also completed a Master’s of Health Sciences in 2001. He joined the faculty at the University of Toronto in 2001, after further training in Lung Transplantation and Cystic Fibrosis. He joined the University of Pennsylvania in 2005 and has been the Adult Program Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Program since 2009 while remaining active at the Penn Lung Transplant Program. He completed mid-career training in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine in 2021. He is currently the Paul F. Harron Jr. Associate Professor of Medicine, at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Hadjiliadis has a very active practice in one of the largest Adult Cystic Fibrosis Programs in the country and also manages patients before and after lung transplantation, mainly with CF, and now is seeing patients with advanced lung disease needing palliative care. He has been the local Principal Investigator for many clinical trials investigator-initiated or pharmaceutical and has been a member of many Guideline committees of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. He has helped train many young physicians and foster their careers in CF and lung transplantation.
